This beautiful sign originally had a long clear textured piece of glass between the plum edge and "welcome". This piece had broken, and required replacement. I believe that the break occurred mainly because there were no reinforcement lines at the top. This lack of balanced weight distribution also caused the foil to distress and pull away from the glass throughout most of the top between the clear and the plum outer edge. The whole top half of the sign needed to be taken apart to be able to re-foil and reinforce the distressed areas, and two curved cuts were added to the new clear top piece to redistribute the weight of the piece, and reinforcing strip was added along the plum/clear line. Approximately 5 1/2 hours were required to make the necessary repairs.
Any repair estimates are approximate only, and frequently vary once the piece is apart... sometimes cracks and breaks are not immediately evident upon initial inspection, or glass unavailiblilty may force a change of additional pieces to facilitate an acceptable match. Repair fees are charged at $25.00 per hour, plus materials used for repairs. Shipping and handling also varies with the size and shape of the piece.
